Ana (her friends call her Anita) is both a grandmother and a leader in her community. She has been fighting for the rights of children all her life. Anita works at home making different handcrafts, including pinatas for local children. She told us that it was difficult to find employment at her age before joining Nica Life.
Celeste is a former participant of UPNicaragua, a program Nica Life has partnered with that supports girl’s empowerment. Celeste joined Nica Life to help support her studies as she earns her accounting degree. Her favorite place to visit is the Isletas on Lake Nicaragua where she enjoys birding.
Elena is a mother of two children, one of which who has down syndrome. She lives with her family in a remote district of Granada near the isletas. Her favorite spot in Nicaragua is the beautiful and lively Central Park in the heart of Granada.
Cristian works with her mother and sister making jewelry for Nica Life. She always comes to the office riding her bicycle. Cristian makes more elaborate pieces and she is always willing to learn new styles that we introduce. Her favorite place to visit are Las Isletas, the small islands near Granada. Our Carlos Bracelets are named for her son Carlos, who made one for our founder.
Fatima works in her house making Nica Life jewelry. She struggles with health problems that make it difficult to work outside the home. However, she wants to help the people of her community and volunteers at the local clinic in her spare time.
Gisselle joined Nica Life to gain financial independence while also attending university part time. She is originally from the Carribbean coast of Nicaragua but moved to Granada in search of both personal and professional growth. We are so happy to have her and look forward to helping her reach her goals.
Javiera joined Nica Life because of the opportunities we bring to our artisans through various personal and professional training programs. Javiera lost her restaurant job during the 2018 political crisis and began learning how to make bracelets with our partner organization, UPNicaragua before joining our team.
Izaira got interested in handicrafts when her sister Eva joined Nica Life, discovering her creative and artistic abilities. Izaira enjoys early morning walks to the Lake Nicaragua and she has some fun-time with her family playing their favorite game - dominos.
Jeaneth makes Nica Life jewelry in her home where she is helping her sister to raise her four children. One of Jeaneth’s nieces and nephews often accompanies her to the Nica Life office. Jeaneth is the provider for her household and enjoys spending time with her family at their home in Granada.
Judith is artistic and creative, she is studying to become a professional manicurist. In her free time Judith helps out at a local church kitchen to prepare meals for children in her neighborhood. In the afternoons Judith loves to spend some time with her family. They pass the time sitting around the table, having coffee and chatting.
Ligia started making jewelry for Nica Life after being inspired by a past artisan partner, Milagro, who is also her sister! Her favorite thing to do in Granada is walking along the lakefront. Ligia is looking forward to growing personally and professionally through Nica Life’s programs and being part of a community that is inspiring women.
Keyri studied graphic design and looks forward to working with her degree someday. She uses her skills when Nica Life does photo shoots in Nicaragua. She enjoys cooking, watching movies and spending time with her dog. Keyri’s favorite part of Nicaragua are the beautiful church porticos of Granada.

Lisseth has three kids and loves to spend time playing and studying with them. Her favorite place is Lake Nicaragua where her kids can play in the waves on the lakefront. Lisseth started making jewelry for Nica Life when she lost her job during the civil unrest in 2018.
Lucia started collaborating with Nica Life with no prior jewelry making experience, but was looking to learn a new skill and hopefully build a new career. Lucia likes to give manicures in her spare time and her favorite food is the traditional Nicaraguan dish, nacatamal, often reserved as a Sunday treat!
Massiel is from the small town of San Juan del Oriente, one of the Pueblos Blancos, known for its ceramic arts & crafts. One of her favorite places to visit in Nicaragua is Laguna de Apoyo. Prior to the crisis in 2018, Massiel was teaching Spanish to tourists in Granada.
Margarita is from a small town called San Marcos, one of the Pueblos Blancos, known for the international university campus residing there. Margarita began learning how to make bracelets with our partner organization, UPNicaragua, where she showed her dedication and attention to detail, before starting to make jewelry for the Nica Life.
Maria has been making jewelry for Nica Life since the beginning! She works at home with her mother Anita and sister Cristian. This allows her to spend her day with her young children. Maria told us that her favorite part of Nica Life is the Well-Being & Empowerment Program that has contributed to her self-esteem and personal development.
Mercedes lives in the small town of San Juan del Oriente at the edge of Laguna de Apoyo. She enjoys folk dancing and attending church in her free time. Mercedes studied sustainable tourism, accounting, and was teaching Spanish to foreign visitors in Granada before the civil unrest in 2018.
Scarleth started making jewelry for Nica Life to further her personal and professional goals. She has a son and is very involved with his education, helping him with his homework while she is able to work from home. Her favorite place to visit is Nindiri Park where there are many fun activities for Scarleth and her son to enjoy.
