Update on Juan's Christmas- It was a great success!

Many of you that have supported Nica Life and Juan’s Christmas have been asking how it went. Well, it was wonderful! All on his own Juan, was able to come up the idea to give the community children a Christmas and he was able engage the people of his community to help make it happen. On December 22nd, approximately 450 children attended the event, received a present, and participated in an esteem building/educational activity organized by Juan. Juan Hurtado Martinez is 20 years old and considers himself a social entrepreneur. He has attended many different training classes designed to teach him how to support children and adolescents that suffer from poverty, repression, or abuse. Those sessions have motivated him to do as much as he can for the children and adolescents of his community. Currently, he participates as a volunteer for UpNicaragua, a program created to empower teenage girls that have suffered violence in their homes or surroundings. Diriamba is a municipality in the area of Carazo, near Pacific. It is a town where many communities are away from urban center and have low income and difficulty accessing employment and basic services. An organization "Association pro Ayuda a la Ninez Nicaraguense" (APAN) works in the area for the defense of the rights of children, adolescents, youth and families in extreme poverty and social risk.
